Teutopolis Board Holds Busy Meeting

Teutopolis school board members acted on a variety of items at this week's meeting.

The Board approved the establishment of a facility study committee and appointed members including Troy Ozenkoski, Vince Heuerman, Pat Drees, Andy Fehrenbacher, Jim Buhnerkempe, Bill Fritcher and Vicky Simmons.  Members will review existing facilities to see how whether they need enhancement and will consider future needs of the district.

The Board recognized President's Volunteer Service Award students.  Janice Ochs introduced bronze award recipients Elena Breer and Sydney Ladendecker, silver recipient Holley Wright and gold recipient Trent Goeckner.  Board members also heard a presentation from Susan Yallaly about the Wooden Shoe Book Boosters.

Teutopolis board members took action on several personnel items.  The Board accepted Jon Niebrugge's resignation as high school assistant soccer coach; approved summer help including Marcus Sheehan and Jesse Miller as custodians, Laurie Thompson as part-time Technology Department, and Darlene Unkraut as part-time high school custodian; approved Laurie Drees and Natasha Rauch as grade school Summer School teachers for Grades 1 and 2; approved student teacher Deann Worman from EIU for Fall semester; and approved Jayme Niebrugge as volunteer for the Summer Book Club.

The Board agreed to seek applicants for the high school assistant soccer coach, fulltime high school custodian, grade school six-hour combination cook and custodian, and part-time and seasonal lawn maintenance positions.

Board members adopted several policy changes, approved changes in the student/parent handbook, approved an intergovernmental agreement covering Kent Probst's time with the Effingham County CEO class during next school year, and reinstated the high school DO class for the coming school year utilizing currently employed personnel.
