A Vandalia man has pled guilty to Federal counts of distribution of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute meth, and felon in possession of a firearm.

45-year-old Shane Hans entered the guilty pleas Thursday in US District Court in East St. Louis.

In entering his guilty pleas Hans acknowledged that in May of 2021 he possessed, with intent to distribute, approximately 15 grams of methamphetamine that was recovered by law enforcement officials from his residence in Vandalia. Hans also acknowledged he possessed a firearm recovered from his residence, while knowing he was a convicted felon. Hans further acknowledged that in July of 2021 he knowingly distributed 14 grams of meth from his residence.

Hans is set for sentencing on November 17. He faces up to 20 years in prison.

US Attorney Rachelle Aud Crowe thanked the FBI Springfield Field Office and the Fayette County Sheriff's Office for their work on the case.
