The suspect in the standoff near Watson in May has been found unfit to stand trial for now.

Matthew Reissen was living along Illinois Route 37 just east of Watson when he began throwing rocks at passing vehicles and setting fires along the highway. When police responded, Reissen went inside the house and would not surrender. The confrontation began about 2pm and the standoff continued until 4am the next day when Reissen finally surrendered. No one was injured in the incident, other than Reissen suffered a cut on one of his hands.

Reissen underwent a fitness exam shortly after the incident. In court earlier this month, Judge Allan Lolie found Reissen unfit, but he is to undergo treatment by the Illinois Department of Human Services with the belief that he can be returned to fitness.

Reissen's case is next due in court on September 22 for a status hearing.
