South Central school board members Wednesday voted to boost pay rates to help fill personnel vacancies.

The Board agreed to raise substitute teacher pay to $125 per day, from the previous $96 per day rate, but also voted to pay retired South Central teachers who return to sub $150 per day.

South Central, like many districts, are struggling to fill all vacancies. South Central Superintendent Kerry Herdes told local media they might have to look at shifting of some staff.

The Board did approve Alex Phillips as assistant high school softball coach and as middle school softball coach. Jamie Tockstein was hired as a non-certified employee.

Herdes also told board members that the district will operate under the same COVID guidelines this school year that they operated under to conclude the past school year.
