Teutopolis school board members were approached Monday night by representatives of the Teutopolis Band and Fine Arts Boosters. The Boosters would like to see new uniforms acquired for the band.

The current uniforms are 30 years old.

It's projected that new uniforms would cost $43,000. Booster leader Kristy Esker asked board members to consider for now what the District could spend. In the meantime, Esker plans to meet with Superintendent Matt Sturgeon to work together on a proposal.

Also Monday, Sturgeon reminded that student registration is scheduled July 25th to 29th. He also discussed district strategic goal-setting that would involve four listening sessions and an online survey.

Sturgeon also discussed the new bleachers at Teutopolis Junior High School that could be ready for next spring's track season. Board President Courtney Tegeler shared that she and board member Troy Ozenkoski are hopeful of dialogue with Teutopolis Park Board representatives on future projects that would benefit both the park district and the school district.

Sturgeon also suggested some work to replace the sign in front of Teutopolis High School. He said a new sign could be electric or non-electric, but that an upgrade is in order. The matter will be researched.

Also Monday, the Teutopolis board approved the annual Teutopolis Grade School rent payment to St. Francis Parish; approved a contractor payment for tuckpointing work at the high school; and okayed the purchase of technology equipment.

In personnel moves, Teutopolis board members approved resignations from Bob Schumacher as high school softball assistant coach, Cassidy Lowry as Title reading teacher, Jeanette Runde as high school cook, Dave Burrell as full-time bus driver, and Dan Herrera as high school English teacher. The Board also accepted a one-year leave of absence from Justin Fleener as high school baseball coach.

The Teutopolis board also hired these individuals for the coming school year: Chelsea Greuel moving up from assistant to head high school cross country coach, Jordan Thoele moving up from fresh/soph to head high school baseball coach, Rob Bothwell as high school fall assistant baseball coach, Kelly Swingler as six-hour per day high school cook, Kenny Cornell as junior high baseball assistant coach, and Tony Martin as junior high baseball coach.
