A trial date of December 5 has been set for Jamie Charlton in the Roger Courson murder case.

The 39-year-old Charlton is charged with two counts of murder as well as counts of home invasion and residential burglary in the September 2021 death of the 80-year-old Courson near the Clay/Effingham County line near Edgewood.

The Salem resident is next due in court for a pre-trial hearing on September 19, followed by a final pre-trial hearing on November 7. Charlton is being held in Clay County Jail under $2.5 million bond.

Charlton is charged in Courson's death along with 31-year-old Walter West of Edgewood and 27-year-old Christopher Gallatin of Centralia. West's trial has been set to begin on December 5, the same date as Charlton's trial. A trial date is yet to be set in Gallatin's case.
