A Beecher City man has been charged in Fayette County Court with a count of aggravated fleeing a police officer and a felony count of driving while license is revoked.

St. Elmo police officers attempted to stop 28-year-old Jeffrey L. Durbin on I-70 a mile east of the St. Elmo interchange about 6:30 Saturday night. Durbin fled the scene and was pursued by authorities east into Effingham, where he was stopped at the intersection of Maple and Edgar.

Durbin's bond was set at $10,000. He is next due in court on August 1.

St. Elmo police were assisted by Fayette County sheriff's deputies, Altamont city police, Effingham city police, and the Illinois State Police.
