Local authorities are pursuing a man accused of holding up an Effingham financial institution Wednesday morning.

Effingham City Police Chief Jason McFarland said a white male entered the new Land of Lincoln Credit Union facility on Thelma Keller Boulevard about 9:25am. McFarland said the man produced a note asking for money and implying that he had a weapon. The suspect was given an undetermined amount of money and he fled the bank on foot.

The man was about six feet to six feet two inches tall and around 200 pounds, bald, wearing a surgical mask, and a grey hooded sweatshirt that said "LIFE RIPS" in green letters.

No one was injured. No shots were fired.

The Land of Lincoln facility on Thelma Keller is the second LLCU facility and just opened this week. The facility will be open today.

Another Effingham financial institution was robbed on April 1. The suspect in that event was taken into custody in the Terre Haute area the same day and is in custody, awaiting trial.
