A Scam Reported in Effingham

A listener wanted us to know about a scam in Effingham.

The listener said a man was going door-to-door, saying he works for Ameren Illinois and saying he needed to see a bill to make sure the resident is registered for a certain program.

Obviously, the man was looking for personal information that could be obtained from the bill. 

After telling the man "No" on giving out her information, the listener contacted an Ameren official who said they "never" send an employee door-to-door.
