Five people were injured in a crash just after noon Tuesday on US Route 45 in Louisville.

The crash happened at 12:05pm at Steele Avenue. Illinois State Police report a car driven by 29-year-old Tiberius Brooks of Daleville, Alabama rear-ended a SUV driven by a 25-year-old Montrose woman whose name was not available from authorities. The collision occurred after Brooks didn't notice the other vehicle was slowing for a school zone. Following the impact, Brooks continued traveling north on Route 45 until the vehicle could no longer function.

Both drivers were injured, with Brooks taken by ambulance and the Montrose resident being taken by family for medical treatment. A passenger in Brooks' vehicle, a 27-year-old female from Enterprise, Alabama, and two passengers in the Montrose woman's vehicle, a 38-year-old female from Louisville and a 41-year-old female from Noble, were also all injured. The passenger in the Brooks vehicle was airlifted from the scene, while the two other passengers were taken by ambulance for treatment.

Brooks was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, DUI, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage, illegal transportation of alcohol, illegal transportation of cannabis, and leaving the scene of a personal injury traffic crash.

We hope to get information on those injured in the crash.
