Teutopolis school board members Monday appointed Cari Buehnerkemper to fill a vacancy on the board. Buehnerkemper will serve until the April 2023 election, but has the option to run for election at that time.

The Board acted on a number of personnel moves. Resignations were accepted from Cheryl McLeod as a summer worker, Jenna Funneman as a grade school paraprofessional, Kelly Stortzum as high school Industrial Arts teacher, Sarah Lin as bookkeeper, Jeanette Runde as one-hour-per-day grade school custodian, Kent Niebrugge as junior high baseball coach, Michael Buening as junior high track coach, and Allison Deters as junior high track coach.

Board members hired Abbi Mette as summer tech assistant for up to six hours per week, Sydney Tipton as a teacher in a fifth section of Kindergarten due to a large number of students at that grade level, Tiffany Hartke as junior high softball assistant coach, Kathy Ruholl as grade school Early Childhood Paraprofessional for 2-1/2 hours per day.

The Board approved internal movement for Hollie Sarchet to high school head cook at five hours per day, Jeanette Runde to high school cook at six hours per day, and Hannah Apple to grade school Music teacher. The Board also extended the teaching contract of Amanda Hazlett for a period of two days to complete necessary Diversified Occupations work in preparation for the coming school year.

Also Monday, the Teutopolis board approved the 2022-23 student/parent handbook, and established registration and other fee amounts for the coming school year. There are no increases in any rates when compared to the prior academic year, including student and adult lunch and milk prices. The Board also accepted a proposal from Earl Pals Painting of $10,500 for painting at Teutopolis High School and from Barlow Lock and Security for fire prevention and safety equipment replacement at the grade school. Also approved was an employee assistance program, as well as a counseling practicum in the Fall and an internship in Spring 2023 for Brooke Hoene.

We reported earlier on the hiring of Tanner Lawson as Teutopolis High School principal.
