Newton Man Killed in Crash Wednesday Night

A Newton resident was fatally injured in a crash Wednesday night.

Killed in the crash was 24-year-old Jarrett S. Zumbahlen. Illinois State Police report Zumbahlen was traveling on North 775th Street at County Road 1200 North in Jasper County when the crash happened at approximately 7pm. 

Police say Zumbahlen's northbound car left the roadway to the right and struck a large tree. Jasper County Coroner Jason Meyer pronounced Zumbahlen dead at the scene.

Authorities say the roadway was closed for approximately two hours.
