Community Foundation Scholarship Deadline Nearing

The Effingham County Community Foundation is requesting proposals for the 2013 grant cycle, according to Joedy Hightower, President/CEO. 

$54,350 will be available this year to assist nonprofit organizations in Effingham County.

Following is a description of the specific funds and corresponding grant dollars available for the 2013 grant cycle:

--   Siemer Milling Company Endowment Fund:  $15,000

Grants awarded to programs aimed at developing people to become extraordinary leaders, by investing in the leadership skills required for improving our shared life, such as:

Enterprise Savvy: Having the ability to leverage opportunities with integrity and innovation; to make good decisions and achieve results.

Conscience: Strong moral/religious character, working to have ethical impact on the community.

Collaborative Communication: Engaging others in an inclusive manner across teams, functions and cultures; effectively marketing ideas.

--   Bill and Jacquelyn Jordan Anderson Fund for Visual Arts:  $4,500

To benefit the arts in Effingham County.

--   Bill and Jacquelyn Jordan Anderson Fund for Youth:  $4,500

To benefit the youth of Effingham County. 

--   Teutopolis State Bank Designated Fund:  $850

For projects that benefit the Teutopolis community.

--   Dr. Peter and Milla Kollinger Family Fund:  $500

To provide support to charitable organizations in the areas of medicine, public library or education.

--   Effingham County Community Foundation Unrestricted Fund:  $29,000

Workforce Development

To improve the economic health of the region so that residents earn sustainable, living wages and prosper.

Early Childhood Education and Child Care

To increase collaboration among educators and other stakeholders working to identify and address early care and education issues and community needs.

Land Use and Protection

To partner and collaborate on current projects related to the environment and land use in the region.

The deadline to submit a grant application is by 4pm on May 31, 2013.  Grant recipients are announced by September 1st.  Applications are available on the foundation’s website  www.enrichingourcommunity.org under “Effingham County” then “Grants”.
