A former St. Peter resident led police on two high-speed chases just after 3pm Thursday.

30-year-old Brandon Wells, now a Robinson resident, was riding his motorcycle when he fled from Farina police on I-57 northbound at speeds of up to 135 miles per hour. When he headed back south on the interstate after turning around at Edgewood, Wells was spotted by a Marion County sheriff's deputy. Wells allegedly took off when the deputy attempted to stop him. Eventually, Wells left the interstate and traveled onto rural roads near Salem before the turned into a field road and gave up after the motorcycle laid over.

Wells was not injured.

Wells was being held in Marion County Jail in Salem on counts of aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude police, no insurance, speeding, and a warrant out of Fayette County. Farina police also charged Wells with speeding more than 35MPH over the limit and attempting to flee or elude police.
