Altamont school board members Monday heard that St. Elmo school officials are willing to discuss consolidation.

Altamont Superintendent Jeff Fritchtnitch reported on his phone conversation with St. Elmo Superintendent Deb Philpot and that their new board is ready to have preliminary discussions.  Fritchtnitch said the goal of the talks is "to be prepared, to check feasibility, and to be transparent."

Altamont board members heard about end-of-year activities including Baccalaureate on May 12 at 6:30pm and Commencement on May 18 at 7pm.

In personnel matters, the Altamont board accepted resignations from Abra Woomer as an elementary teacher as of May 23, and of Courtnie Brauer as high school assistant volleyball coach and then approved Brauer as volunteer assistant soccer coach for the coming school year.  The Board authorized Fritchtnitch to employ a Kindergarten teacher, accepted the irrevocable letter of retirement from Anita Lorton, approved a co-op agreement for junior high softball with Altamont Lutheran Interparish School, and approved an early graduation for Samantha Hamilton.
