A Mount Vernon man faces terrorism charges after he allegedly communicated five separate bomb threats in Mount Vernon.

Two bomb threats were made to Continental Tire in Mount Vernon, one of the city’s largest employers. The other threats were made to Walmart and the Dollar Tree over the past month.

The suspect has been identified as Raymond Needy, 21 of Mount Vernon.

On Wednesday, the Jefferson County State’s Attorney filed five Class 1 felony charges of terrorism/false threat charges against Needy. If convicted, Needy faces up to 15 years in prison on each charge.

Earlier this month, Continental Tire offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the bomb threats. In each case, Continental Tire was forced to evacuate its employees until the threat was cleared. Law enforcement officials said no bomb or other explosive device was found at any of the alleged targets.
