Ross Pleads Guilty to Cumberland County Sex Offense

A Charleston man is headed to prison after entering a negotiated plea in Cumberland County to a sex crime.

23-year-old Scott Ross pleaded guilty this week to a count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under age 13. Ross was sentenced to five years in prison and will be placed on four years mandatory supervised release once out of prison. 

Ross had been charged with a Class X Felony count of predatory criminal sexual assault that would have been punished by a prison term of six to 30 years. That charge was dismissed in exchange for the guilty plea to the lesser count.

Ross' sentence will run concurrent with a similar sentence for an offense in Jasper County.
