Dieterich school board members Monday approved the purchase of $6,262,100 in general obligation bonds and $2,253,400 in working cash bonds to finance additional facilities.

The Board continued the process of planning for classroom and restroom expansion by exploring options with Andrew Ewing of the Upchurch Group, the district's architect. Two locations have been targeted for the expansion. The Board is hoping to start the bidding process in late summer.

Meanwhile, the Board Monday awarded AKRA Builders of Effingham the bid for new entryways and office upgrades to the elementary and junior-senior high schools in the amount of $401,312. Federal funds will finance that project.

The Dieterich board approved the fee schedule for the coming school year, raising the breakfast and lunch fees by a dime to keep up with the State's paid lunch equity. The Board also renewed the contract with OPAA!, the District's food service provider, and renewed membership in the IHSA and IESA for the coming school year.

The Board approved changes to the elementary and junior/senior high school handbooks for the coming school year, and hired summer workers Maggie Britton, Gabe Jackson, Veronica Miramontes, Katie Hagen, Leslie Meinhart, Blake Niemerg, Lauren Garbe and Carie Bloemer, and approved a maternity leave request for Rebekah Repking to begin at the onset of the coming school year and running until September 12.
