Interstate Accident In Effingham Wednesday

Wednesday afternoon at approximatley 3:25 a car driven by a 16 year old girl from Shobonier was traveling southbound on the ramp from Fayette Avenue to Interstate 57 southbound at milepost 159, behind a semi driven by Jarrod Vogel, 51 of Pueblo, Colorado. 

The teen attempted to pass Vogel as they merged onto Interstate 57 and struck the semi-trailer of A.G. Franks, a 58 of Hayti, Missouri, that was traveling on Interstate 57. The teen lost control and then struck Vogel's semi as well. All three came to a rest on the right shoulder.  

The teenage girl was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Franks and Vogel reported no injuries.

The girl was cited for No Valid Driver’s License, Improper Lane Usage, and Failure to Wear a Seatbelt.
