Centralia Man Arrested in Marion County for Murder

A Centralia man has been arrested on a first degree murder charge for an offense that occurred several years ago.

State Police say 31-year-old Ricky J. Norwood, Jr. was arrested Tuesday in connection with the death of Dustin Rhynes on August 23, 2015. The 24-year-old Rhynes was discovered dead due to a gunshot wound in an alleyway in Centralia. Centralia police asked the State Police Division of Criminal Investigation to investigate Rhynes' death.

In March of this year, Norwood was formally charged in the shooting death. He was arrested Monday by the Marion County Sheriff's Department and is being held in Marion County Jail on $1,000,000 bond. Norwood had been in Federal custody.

No word yet as to what led to Norwood's arrest for the murder.
