(ELLERBE)

The suspect in a robbery at First Mid Bank and Trust Friday morning has been identified as an Indianapolis man.

Effingham Police Chief Jason McFarland said 45-year-old Corey Ellerbe is suspected of entering the bank just after 10am Friday. Ellerbe is accused of asking for cash and inferring that he had a weapon, although no weapon was displayed. An undetermined amount of cash was taken.

Ellerbe fled the bank and headed east into Indiana. Citizen tips helped authorities with locating Ellerbe, who was taken into custody in Vigo County, Indiana later on Friday.

Ellerbe was transferred from Indiana today to the Effingham County Jail.

No shots were fired. No one was injured in the incident.
