South Central school board members Wednesday heard about how the district is using federal COVID-19 relief funds.

Superintendent Kerry Herdes said a portion of the money will fund an after school program, as well as higher level courses for high school students.

Work is underway to install heating and air conditioning units in all three district buildings.

Also acquired were 280 Chromebooks, as well as 60 desktop computers for teachers this year and next year.

South Central board members also confirmed the final day of school will be May 20, with 8th grade promotion and high school graduation on May 13. Next year's school calendar was approved with the first day for students on August 18.

The Board approved $600 contributions to Kinmundy for use of the Lions Field and Webster Field, and a $300 contribution to Farina for use of Farina Village Park, and approved Glass and Shuffett to do the fiscal year audit.
