Members of the Illinois House of Representatives Tuesday voted to make mask wearing optional in the chamber. The approval ends an end to standoffs with a group of Republican House members who have opposed continued wearing of masks.

The House resolution passed with one dissenting vote, that of Democratic St. Rep. Lakesia Collins of Chicago, who had sponsored the motions to remove the Republicans who did not wear masks.

Tuesday's decision follows Governor Pritzker easing up the indoor mask mandate in Illinois and Congress removing its mask mandate, as well.
