Three Injured in Crash Saturday on Moccasin Road

Three people were injured in a crash Saturday afternoon in Moccasin Township in northwest Effingham County.

The crash happened at 5:20pm on Moccasin Road, west of Lake Sara.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports a SUV driven by 25-year-old Skylar Vonderheide of Stewardson was westbound when Vonderheide lost control of the vehicle.The vehicle left the roadway and traveled onto the shoulder. The vehicle then struck a culvert, causing it to become airborne. The vehicle impacted the ground with its front end, causing it to overturn, coming to rest on its driver's side.

Vonderheide was injured, as were two passengers, one-year-old Riddick Reed and four-year-old Shae Vonderheide, both of Stewardson. All three were transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
