Semi Strikes SUV Near Neoga Friday

Illinois State Police released details today on a crash involving a semi and a SUV on I-57 at Neoga Friday afternoon.

The crash happened at 2:41pm in the southbound lanes. Police say the semi driven by 35-year-old Vernon McInnis of Gulfport, Mississippi crossed the center line and struck the passenger side of the SUV driven by 51-year-old Rhonda Burton of Effingham. The SUV then struck the left guardrail while the semi struck the right guardrail. 

Burton was transported by ambulance for treatment. McInnis reported no injuries.

The right lane of the roadway was closed during the crash investigation. McInnis was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
