Two Killed in Crash in Shelby County Wednesday

Two people are dead as the result of a crash in Shelby County Wednesday afternoon.

Illinois State Police report a van driven by 38-year-old Matthew Mau of Chatham was traveling on Shelby County Road 2100 North, while a semi driven by 59-year-old Louis Hankins of Shumway was southbound on Illinois Route 128. Police say Mau failed to stop at the stop intersection and struck the driver's side of Hankins' semi. 

Mau was killed, as was his passenger, 26-year-old Morgan Wickham of Springfield. Hankins was not injured.

No citations were issued in the crash, which occurred near Findlay shortly before 1:30pm.
