The People's Convoy rolled through Effingham early Tuesday afternoon on their cross-country journey from California to the nation's Capitol.

Hundreds of semis, pickup trucks and RVs were part of the procession. The group had stopped overnight in Cuba, Missouri and were bound for Indianapolis by the end of the day today.

The group is protesting mandates, but is also protesting for individual rights and liberties.

Large groups of local and area residents gathered along the interstate through Effingham to watch and support the convoy. The biggest gathering was on the west edge of the city at the Cross at the Crossroads and elsewhere along Fayette Avenue. There were also contingents along Keller Drive and large numbers of people along Althoff Drive that runs parallel to the interstate on the north side of town.

The convoy plans to reach Washington by Saturday, but has an agreement with Washington, DC authorities not to enter the capital due to the traffic hassles that could cause.
