Neoga school board members have voted to place a question on the June 28 election ballot that if approved would provide funding for several renovation efforts in district school buiidngs.

The referendum would generate up to $3.5 million. Neoga Superintendent Bill Fritcher said the funds would help pay for a new roof on the grade school building, tuckpointing of the junior/senior high school building, replacement of floor tile containing asbestos, remodeling three Science classrooms, and remodeling work in the junior/senior high school library.

The Board also approved an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Neoga. The City will provide the school district with up to $600,000 in Tax Increment Financing district funds over the next four years. Much of that revenue would go toward the renovation work to be undertaken if the referendum passes.

Also at the meeting, the Neoga Board set high school graduation for 7pm on Saturday, May 14, and signed an agreement with the St. Louis Cardinals allowing the Neoga High School baseball team to play a game at Busch Stadium on May 29.

Neoga board members also hired Micah Sybert as junior high softball coach, and hired Deacon Faulkner to serve as high school track coach for one season.
