Neoga Man Arrested on Charge of Aggravated Battery of a Child

Neoga resident Gabriel Gonzalez has been arrested on a Class X Felony count of aggravated battery of a child.

The arrest was made by the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 8.

At approximately 3pm on February 13, a two-year-old boy arrived at a local hospital and was transported to a Regional Level 1 trauma hospital due to suspected child abuse. The Neoga Police Department asked DCI Zone 8 to lead an investigation into allegations of aggravated battery of a child. The incident is alleged to have occurred in the 800 block of Walnut Avenue in Neoga.

On Tuesday, Gonzalez was charged in Cumberland County Circuit Court with aggravated battery of a child. Gonzalez was arrested on Wednesday by Neoga Police and is being held in Cumberland County Jail in Toledo on $250,000 bond.
