North Clay school board members this week took action on several personnel matters, and set the district's graduation schedule.

The Board accepted the resignation of Aron Spicer as grade school/junior high principal as of the end of the school year. Spicer has been hired as assistant principal at Central Grade School in Effingham for the coming year.

Also, the North Clay board accepted the retirement of Michele Lovett as of the end of the 2023-2024 school year; accepted the resignation of Jennings Barnfield as high school Phys Ed and PE teacher at the conclusion of the school year; accepted the resignation of Sara Bushur as high school cheer sponsor at the end of the school year; rehired administrators with the exception of Spicer for next year; and approved Avery Williams and Christina Sisk for deduct days for the remainder of the school year.

North Clay board members also set high school graduation for May 15 with Baccalaureate at 2pm and graduation at 3pm, and set junior high promotion for May 17 at 6:30pm.

The Board approved a resolution for the issuance of $2,805,000 in general obligation school bonds and authorizing the sale of the bonds; discussed the possible increase of CTE offerings at the high school; and discussed how to respond to future mandates from the Illinois State Board of Education.
