58 New COVID Cases in County Friday Through Thursday; One COVID-Related Death

The Effingham County Health Department reported 58 new cases of COVID during the period from Friday, February 11 through Thursday, February 17, the lowest weekly total in some time.

The Health Department said 27.5% of those individuals with COVID were up to date with their vaccinations, 57% were completely unvaccinated, and 15.5% were not up to date with their vaccinations.

22 of those new cases involved people under age 40.

The Health Department also reported a COVID-related death of an individual in their 60s. The individual had not received their booster.

The seven-day rolling test postivity was down to 5.3% through February 15, with Effingham County at 5.9% for the same period.

ICU availability in our region is up to 25%.
