A Freeman Spur, Illinois man is in custody in Vigo County, Indiana after stealing a vehicle in Teutopolis. The man then fled from area police with the pursuit ending in West Terre Haute, Indiana.

24-year-old Jeremy Restivo is being held following the vehicle theft that occurred at Dollar General in Teutopolis. Effingham County Sheriff's Office received a phone call at 7:18pm Wednesday about the theft of the pickup truck. Another vehicle, stolen from Marion earlier in the day, was recovered in the Dollar General parking lot.

Deputies sent information on the stolen pickup truck to other police agencies. Minutes later, Greenup Police Department located the stolen vehicle traveling through their jurisdiction and attempted to stop the vehicle, then gave pursuit when the vehicle fled the scene.

Greenup police followed the pickup truck to the Indiana state line where Indiana State Police took over the pursuit. During the pursuit in Indiana, the pickup truck reportedly caused a crash involving an Indiana State Trooper.

Restivo fled the area. The trooper was extricated from his patrol car and was treated for minor injuries.

Indiana authorities recovered the pickup truck abandoned in the West Terre Haute area. Restivo is reported to have stolen a SUV in West Terre Haute and eluded police until his arrest at 2:59am Thursday.

Restivo is being held in Vigo County Jail for alleged crimes in Indiana. Effingham County sheriff's deputies are completing an investigation into the Teutopolis and Marion incidents and expects formal charges to be filed by the Effingham County State's Attorney's Office.
