Both drivers and a passenger were injured when two vehicles collided near Altamont last Wednesday evening. Details on the crash were released by the Effingham County Sheriff's Department today.

The crash happened at 6:04pm on US Route 40, a quarter-mile west of 450th Street, about a mile east of Altamont. Deputies report a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Dillon Jones of Altamont was eastbound when the vehicle skidded on the ice, spun around and struck a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Matthew Griggs of St. Elmo.

Jones and Griggs were both injured, as was Griggs' passenger, 11-year-old Justice Clapham of St. Elmo. All three were transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Jones was cited for DUI alcohol, and failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
