The Effingham County Sheriff's Department is investigating a stabbing incident that occurred over the weekend.

Members of the sheriff's office were dispatched to the Emergency Department at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham at 12:41am Sunday. Officers were called to investigate a report of two individuals who sustained injuries in an altercation in Watson.

At the Emergency Department, deputies spoke with the injured parties and witnesses to the incident who stated the altercation occurred moments prior to their arrival at the hospital. It was determined the two men present at the Emergency Department were stabbed during the incident.

The Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the incident and is conducting interviews of the involved parties and witnesses. Authorities report the two men transported to the Emergency Department are expected to make a full recovery. As the investigation is ongoing, the Sheriff's Office is not releasing names of the victims or suspects at this time. Authorities report that all parties involved in the incident have been identified.

Once the investigation is completed, the case will be referred to Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler for determination as to whether charges should be filed.
