Effingham city council members voted this week to contract with Visu Sewer to reline sanitary sewer lines in the city.

The city relines sewer lines to extend the life of the lines at a more affordable cost than replacing lines. The contract with Visu Sewer is for $439,147.40.

The Council also approved an agreement with K. Wohltman Construction of Effingham to build a salt shed storage building for $97,973.

Also approved by the Council was a jurisdictional transfer agreement for a portion of Willenborg Street with Douglas Township. The transfer is related to improvements related to the upcoming Quik Trip project on Technology Drive. The City is desirous of making improvements to Willenborg Street and Evergreen Avenue since it's thought a lot of traffic will utilize those two roadways once Quik Trip opens.

The Council also executed a contract with Schulte Supply for water meter collector system upgrades, and accepted a quote from IMCO for the second phase of water main replacements in Homewood Subdivision.

There was discussion by the Council of the 2022 Christmas light display purchases, a vehicle procurement contract, a lift station contract, recoating the Rickelman Avenue standpipe, and this year's manhole rehabilitation program.

Commissioners Hank Stephens and Libby Moeller were not present for the meeting.
