The Effingham County Courthouse will be closed on Thursday, February 3, due to the inclement weather.

There will be no court in session. The Effingham County State's Attorney's Office, Circuit Clerk's Office, Probation Office, and Public Defender's Office will all be closed. Anyone who was scheduled for court on Thursday will be re-scheduled and will receive a notice from Circuit Clerk John Niemerg's office.

The Effingham County Treasurer's Office, County Clerk's Office, County Supervisor of Assessments Office, Regional Superintendent of Schools Office, and the office of Congresswoman Mary Miller, which are all located in the Effingham County Office Building, will also be closed on Thursday.

Effingham County Sheriff Paul Kuhns said, "I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause, but I believe keeping several people from traveling Thursday will outweigh the cost. Hopefully, this weather system will pass quickly and we will soon be back to normal operations. If any other weather announcements need to be made, they will be released on an as-needed basis."
