St. Anthony Schools to Celebrate Catholic Schools Week

St. Anthony Catholic Schools are set to celebrate Catholic Schools Week from January 30th - February 5th. Both St. Anthony Grade School and St. Anthony High School have planned activities throughout the week that follows the theme of Faith, Excellence, and Service.  
 
Below are the upcoming events planned at each school:
 
Sunday, January 30th:
St. Anthony Grade School: Grade school families to celebrate 9:15 am mass
St. Anthony High School: High School students and families to celebrate 11:00 am mass. A potluck luncheon, fellowship, and fun will be hosted in the MPR from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm. A volleyball tournament will also be held in the gym during this time.
 
Monday, January 31st:
St. Anthony Grade School: Grade School Students and staff will celebrate a Renewal of Consecration to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus & The Immaculate Heart of Mary service with Fr. Michael Berndt. Students will enjoy a dress-down day and collect donations to go towards gift cards for seminarians studying to become priests.
St. Anthony High School: High School students can dress down for a $5 donation to Crisis Nursery. A week-long Ping Pong Tournament kicks off during lunch.
 
Tuesday, February 1st:
St. Anthony Grade School: Grade School Students will be enjoying a ‘Volunteer Appreciation Day,’ with various activities and treats to thank the many school volunteers.
St. Anthony High School: High School Students still get to enjoy a dress-down day for a $5 donation to Crisis Nursery, and the luncheon Ping Pong Tournament continues.
 
Wednesday, February 2nd:
Both Schools: Both grade school and high school students will join all Catholic school students from the Mattoon Deanery within the Diocese of Springfield for the traditional Catholic Schools Week Mass at St. Anthony High School. The mass will be celebrated by Bishop Thomas Paprocki at 9:30 am. The general public is invited to attend mass.
 St. Anthony Grade School: Grade school students will enjoy an afternoon assembly with Bob Tarter and the Animology Assembly and visit the “Star Lab” throughout the rest of the week.
St. Anthony High School: High School students will receive an ice cream treat at the end of the day.
 
Thursday, February 3rd:
St. Anthony Grade School: Grade school students will celebrate national and local community heroes by sending thank you cards. A “Penny Drive” will also support the Family Life Center. Additionally, students will participate in a “game day” for fun and fellowship.
St. Anthony High School: High School students will participate in Adoration in the school chapel, praying for Catholic Schools (past, present, and future).
 
Friday, February 4th:
St. Anthony Grade School: The grade school student council will provide breakfast for faculty and staff. Students will enjoy fun, grade-specific activities in the gym. 
St. Anthony High School: High School students will end the week with a game of Family Feud. 
 
Saturday, February 5th:
Both Schools: Families from both grade school and high school are challenged to dedicate a couple of hours to spend time together doing fun-filled, family-focused activities.
 
St. Anthony of Padua Parish is a Catholic Church founded in 1858, with a congregation of more than 1300 families and nearly 3200 members.
