Golf Cart and Recreational Off-Highway Regulations for Teutopolis

The Village of Teutopolis has issued the guidelines in place with the new year regarding use of certain off-highway vehicles in the village. Here are the guidelines:

Attention Golf Cart and Recreational Off-Highway Owners in Teutopolis:

Beginning January 04, 2022, the 2022 Golf Cart and Recreational Off-Highway Permits (Side by Sides) will be available for purchase at the village hall during normal business hours.

If the golf cart was inspected and permitted in the village in 2021 you do not need the golf cart inspected this year. All golf carts and recreational off-highway vehicle (Side by Sides) that have not been permitted in the Village of Teutopolis will need to be inspected by one of the village officers.To have an inspection you will need to call Village Hall, 217-857-3543 ext. 101, and set up an appointment. These appointments should be set up a couple days in advance.

To obtain a permit for a golf cart or a recreational off-highway vehicle (Side by Sides) you will need to fill out the following information on the application. You will be able to either stop in at Village Hall and pick up all necessary paperwork, or you will be able to print from the Village’s website. • A current driver’s license
• Proof of insurance (each person who will be operating the licensed non-highway vehicle must be included on the coverage)
• A Release of Liability will need to be executed by each person who will operating the licensed non-highway vehicle.
• The cost of a golf cart permit in 2022 will be $50.
• The cost of a recreational off-highway vehicle permit (Side by Sides) in 2022 will be $100.

Important information:

• To obtain a 2022 recreational off-highway vehicle (Side by Sides) permit you must have a Teutopolis, IL 62467 address, this permit only allows you to legally operate within Village limits. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
• To operate a recreational off-highway vehicle (Side by Sides) you must be 21 years old.
• To operate a golf cart you must be 18 years old.
• The golf cart permit only allows you to legally operate within the Village limits. There are no exceptions to this rule.
• A copy of Ordinance No. 980, An Ordinance Amending Chapter 71 of the Code of Ordinances for the Village of Teutopolis, Illinois (Golf Cart and Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles) can be found on our website or picked up in the office.

If anyone is stopped driving a golf cart or recreational off-highway vehicle (Side by Sides) on village streets without a 2022 sticker they will be ticketed, no allowances will be given!!
