Dieterich school board members Monday accepted a library grant totaling $1,500 from the Association of Illinois School Library Educators. District Librarian Mary Richars applied for the grant. The funds will be used to update the 5th and 6th grade planet and outer space library collection.

The Board reviewed and approved the district bullying policy; and renewed its membership in the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce for another year.

Dieterich board members accepted insurance bids for the coming year. Prairie State Insurance Cooperative offered the least expensive proposal. The proposal reflects an overall decrease in premium of $16,010 over the previous year's premium, or an 18.72% reduction. The Board also approved a Memorandum of Agreement with the Dieterich Education Association to place junior high assistant coaches on the Extra Duty Rate schedule of the contract, allowing them to become paid assistants.

Board members approved a 10-week maternity leave for Mindy Worman, starting in March, and hired Laura Thull as a school nurse, starting in January. Dieterich shares nursing services with the Beecher City and Teutopolis school districts. Thull will join current school nurse Julie Ziegler in serving the three districts.
