The John Preston Family had their house near Herrick destroyed in the tornado Friday night. John is in a Springfield hospital with serious injuries sustained while trying to get his family to safety. They lost everything in the storm.

Ed Lewis Trucking has donated a trailer to start the collection process. The trailer will be parked under the Hobby Lobby sign along Keller Drive in Effingham. Donations will be accepted there beginning at 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. today and Wednesday, Dec. 14th and 15th.  Donations could include furniture, money, clothing, etc.  Anything donated that is not needed will be donated to other relief operations.

Volunteers are working on getting a couple storage units set up for them. Send a text message to Tyler Shab at 217-240-9654 to arrange pickup of furniture.  They're working on getting some trucks together to accomplish this.

The bank in Herrick also has an account set up for the family.

Here is list of clothing sizes needed for Preston Family:

Girls size 7-8 clothes and size 13 shoes

Girls size 3T clothes

Boys size 14-16 shirts, 10 husky pants, and size 2-3 shoes

Womens medium tops and size 9 long pants

Mens medium shirts and 30X32 pants

What the Preston family also needs right now is a home. They would like to stay in the Cowden/Herrick area since their kids are enrolled there.  If you know of anything immediately available, please call/text 217-240-9654 and payment will be arranged.

They would also like to start rounding up toys for the kiddos for Christmas. Boys are ages 9 and 15 and the girls are 3, 7, and 13.
