The annual Wonderland in Lights display at Community Park has opened early, and the first-ever walk-through event is set for Wednesday, November 24 from 4-9 pm.

Typically, the display runs from Thanksgiving through New Years Day. Effingham's Convention and Visitors Bureau said in a post that "because we could all use a little extra holiday cheer this season... Wonderland in Lights will be lighting up early this year!"

979 XFM and KJ Country 102.3 are once again proud to provide Christmas music during the lighting display. Tune your radio to 90.7 FM while you're in the park to enjoy Christmas hits during the display.

If you've ever wanted to walk through Wonderland in Lights, you'll have that opportunity this year. The first annual walk-through event will take place on Wednesday, November 24 from 4-9 pm. Limited parking is available in Community Park. Street parking will not be permitted, and vehicle travel through Wonderland in Lights will be suspended for the evening. Shuttle service will be continuously provided for those who park in the east lot at the Effingham County Cultural Center and Museum (old courthouse) downtown.

The walk-through event is free to the public, but donations are welcome. You can view the displays at your own leisure, enjoy classic Christmas music, and visit with Santa Claus when you reach the end of the walk. Refreshments, including hot cocoa, coffee, and cookies, will be available, fireside, as well, courtesy of Dan Hecht Chevrolet & Toyota.

Masks and social distancing are encouraged. For more information, call the Effingham Tourism Office at 217.342.5310.
