A few years back, some school districts were short on funds, so booster clubs and other support groups provided funding to fill the gaps.

At Monday night's Altamont School Board meeting, Altamont administrator Kris Biggs discussed a proposal where non-school sponsored sports would return to being school district funded. Biggs provided the Board with costs that could be reviewed before a decision is reached.

The Altamont board employed Vicki Grobengieser as a grade school paraprofessional, hired Erica Bowman as a bus aide and student monitor at the grade school, hired James Campe as a custodian, okayed Ryan Heiden as a 5th and 6th grade basketball coach and Kim Splechter as 7th grade volleyball coach, accepted the resignation of Stephanie DuPlayee as a nurse, hired paraprofessional Johanna Hooks as a junior high English teacher, voted 4-2 against hiring substitute teacher AJ Thomas to teach high school Chemistry and Physical Science, and hired Amanda Dust as a RN.

The Board discussed who should fill the vacancy on the school board created by Alan Shumaker's resignation last month, but did not reach a decision, agreed to advise board member Kerry Wolff on how to vote on resolution when he represents the Altamont district as a delegate at the state school board convention, accepted the fiscal year audit, and sold a bus for $1,850 to Rebecca Kelly.
