Two people were injured in a crash Saturday morning in rural Fayette County.

State police report a pickup truck driven by 32-year-old Ryan Brant of Effingham was eastbound on East 900th Avenue at the intersection with North 2650th Street, while a SUV driven by 29-year-old Audra Daugherty of Altamont was northbound on 2650 Street.

Police say Brant failed to stop at a stop sign and proceeded into the intersection. Daugherty was unable to avoid striking Brant's vehicle.

Daugherty was airlifted from the scene to a regional hospital for treatment of injuries. Daugherty's nine-year-old passenger from Altamont was also injured, and she was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.

Brant was cited for disobeying a stop sign and for operating a motor vehicle while using an electronic communication device.
