A Shelbyville man has been charged with six felony offenses related to taking a vehicle.

Shelby County State's Attorney Nichole Kroncke said Dalton Maness is charged with unlawful possession of a converted vehicle, aggravated battery of a peace officer, burglary, and three counts of aggravated resisting a peace officer.

The charges allege that on Sunday, October 24, Maness entered a truck to commit a theft and then took the truck. Maness is alleged to then have spat on an arresting officer and injured three officers during the arrest process. The officers located the stolen truck after it crashed into a residence on First Street in Shelbyville.

Maness' bond was set at $50,000. He will appear in court for a preliminary hearing on November 15.

The charges stem from an investigation conducted by the Shelbyville Police Department and the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.
