COVID-Related Death in the County

The Effingham County Health Department reported a COVID-related death this week, this one of a person in their 80s who had been vaccinated. The total number of COVID-related deaths in Effingham County since the beginning of the pandemic is at 99.

There have been 37 new positive cases of Coronavirus Disease reported Friday through Sunday, 12 of those involving people under age 40.

The Moderna and Johnson and Johnson boosters have now been approved by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and by the Illinois Department of Public Health. The Effingham County Health Department is making plans to start Booster Clinics, commencing Monday, November 1. The clinics have not yet been finalized. There will be no wait lists for the clinics, so you're asked not to phone the Health Department until they're finalized.

Shelby County Health Department has announced two COVID-related deaths in the past week. Those were a man in his 50s and a woman in her 70s.
