82 COVID-19 Cases Reported in County In Past Week

54 new positive cases of Coronavirus Disease have been reported by the Effingham County Health Department. When added to the numbers released last Monday, the seven-day total of positive cases is 82.
The Moderna booster and the Johnson and Johnson booster plus the "mix and match booster" options were approved by the FDA this past week. This means they move a step closer to being made available to the public. The next step is approved by the Centers for Disease Control and then the Illinois Department of Public Health; that is anticipated to happen within the next week or so.
COVID-19 vaccine booster shots will be for those who completed their initial series at least six months ago and are:
65 or older
18+ who live in long-term care settings
18+ who have underlying medical conditions
18+ who work in high-risk settings
18+ who live in high-risk settings
