Sunny skies were on hand for Saturday's Marching Hearts Invitational, this year featuring 30 bands.

Newton won grand champion honors for Classes 1A, 2A and 3A, as well as winning top honors in Class 3A.

Mahomet-Seymour won grand champion honors in Classes 4A and 5A, as well as winning top honors in Class 5A.

The other winners, by class, were Casey-Westfield in Class 1A, Breese Mater Dei in Class 2A, and Centralia in Class 4A.

The competition was hosted by the Effingham Marching Hearts Red Regiment. The host band always presents their show in exhibition after helping run the competition throughout the busy day. The competition is the main fundraiser for the band, and returned after being cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic.
