Members of the Effingham County Board's Ambulance Oversight Committee Tuesday discussed the timeline for naming the vendor who will provide 911 emergency service in the county once the current contract expires.

Committee Chairman Rob Arnold admitted he might have been a little optimistic that the process would be completed prior to the final six months of the current contract with Abbott EMS. That current contract expires in April 2022.

Committee members developed a list of questions for the three vendors seeking 911 business in the county, and got the word Tuesday that State's Attorney Bryan Kibler has approved seeking answers to the questions, and to conduct background checks.

Abbott submitted a bid to continue to provide the service, along with Lakeside EMS and Rural Med.
