Teutopolis village board members took time at their meeting to recognize longtime Village Attorney Bill Austin for his years of service.

Austin retired as attorney after 45 years' service. He will be succeeded by Tracy Willenborg, who has already worked with the village in the formation of Prairie View Estates, the residential subdivision on the southeast edge of town.

The Board also approved the purchase of 10 Earth Planter flowerpots for placement around the downtown part of the village. The pots will cost $6,064. Also approved was a new fees for lots owned by the Village that are being purchased for development. The new fees are $10,000 for individuals who want to purchase a lot, and $5,000 for contractors.

Board members also discussed problems with illegal burning, and approved the placement of a crosswalk on the north side of Green Street and Walnut Street in hopes it will make it safer for kids on their way to school to cross the street.
