The Teutopolis Board of Education voted 4-1 Wednesday night to comply with the Governor's Executive Order and require the wearing of masks in school buildings.

The mask requirement is effective today (Friday).

The vote was approved under protest. The motion was "to update the Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan to comply with the September 3rd Executive Order #22 and hereby require the indoor use of face coverings by students, staff, and visitors who are over age two and able to medically tolerate a face covering, regardless of vaccination status".

As requested by the Board at their prior meeting, Superintendent Matt Sturgeon briefly presented infomation regarding the possibility of Board litigation against what was termed "state overreach and the limiting of local authority to make decisions based on the needs and interests of the school community". Action on the item was tabled for future consideration.
